Scalable and Secure E-Commerce for Reverse Logistics

The objective of this research is to develop a science base and integrative technologies for implementing a scalable and secure hub for reverse logistics e-commerce. The proposed system consists of a transactions hub called the Management and Archival (MA) subsystem and a product information database referred to as the Product Design Advisory (PDA) subsystem. In the initial phase of exploratory research, we conducted a survey of electronics manufacturers survey to determine their interest in recycling, implemented a simple prototype system for proof of concept, developed new knowledge discovery methods for feature selection, and studied security aspects of the proposed e-hub. At this writing, we are conducting experiments with human subjects to gauge the effects of different levels of settlement price information on bidding behavior.
